Teen Hospitalized After Being Hit by Vehicle in Milford

Milford, Mass. — Milford police are investigating a vehicle-pedestrian crash that left an 18-year-old injured Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. near the intersection of Main Street and Water Street, according to the Milford Police Department.

Video released by police shows a person standing in the roadway as a vehicle approaches. The individual appears to attempt to move out of the way but is struck before reaching safety, landing along the side of the road following the collision.

First responders arriving at the scene found an 18-year-old male lying on the ground and reporting pain to his back and limbs, police said. He was transported to UMass Memorial Hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been released.

Investigators say preliminary findings suggest the pedestrian may have been trying to assist a large box truck that was backing out of a nearby parking lot when the crash occurred.

The incident remains under active investigation, and police have not announced whether any charges will be filed.
