NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. — The Northbridge Rams are off to a sizzling 3-1 start, using a high-octane offense that has produced more than 40 points per game in each of their three wins. The explosive attack is no accident — it’s the product of legendary coach Ken LaChapelle, who has spent five decades shaping the Rams and building an offense players say is as fun as it is unpredictable.
“Offensively, it’s so fun,” said captain Antonio D’Alfonso. “There are so many different plays he can throw at you in so many different situations. I just think it’s amazing.”
Captain Nate Falconer echoed that sentiment. “It’s always interesting to see how Coach LaChapelle comes up with plays,” Falconer said. “You’ll see things you’ve never seen before on a football field. You can always see his wheels turning — he’s thinking about the next move. He’s always five steps ahead, and that’s what I love about being in his offense.”
LaChapelle’s approach — a blend of creativity, situational thinking and constant adjustments — has energized the roster and made the Rams difficult to prepare for each week. Opponents may be able to scout formations, but according to the players, LaChapelle’s playcalling often presents looks teams haven’t practiced for.
Northbridge travels to Tantasqua on Friday, Oct. 10, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
