WORCESTER, MA. — A 19-year-old Worcester man is facing a long list of charges after police say he led officers on a high-speed chase that began in Webster and ended in Worcester with two cruisers struck.
According to Webster police, Samuel McCausland was driving a stolen Infiniti Q50 when officers attempted a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, McCausland fled, allegedly striking both an Auburn police cruiser and a Massachusetts State Police cruiser during the pursuit.
After crashing the vehicle, McCausland ran from the scene, leading officers on a foot chase through Worcester’s Vernon Hill neighborhood. He was eventually caught and taken into custody.
Police say the Infiniti had been stolen from a local car dealership the previous night.
McCausland now faces 16 charges, including:
-
Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer with a Dangerous Weapon
-
Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
-
Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
He is expected to appear in court to face the charges.
