Holden Resident Identified as Victim in Fatal I-190 Motorcycle Collision in Lancaster

LANCASTER, Mass. — Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who died following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 190 northbound on Friday afternoon.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office identified the victim as Christopher D. Pereira, 50, of Holden.

Emergency crews responded to the northbound lanes of I-190 in Lancaster around 4:30 p.m. following reports of a collision involving two passenger cars and a motorcycle. First responders rushed Pereira to Leominster Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

One of the motorists involved was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, while a second driver received treatment at the scene for minor injuries.

The crash and subsequent scene preservation forced authorities to shut down all northbound lanes of the highway during Friday evening rush-hour traffic. All lanes were reopened by approximately 7:00 p.m.

Troopers from the Leominster and Holden barracks responded to the scene alongside Lancaster Fire and EMS personnel. Specialized investigative teams—including the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services, and detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office—are conducting a joint investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
